"I am Jennifer Knight. Woman. Sister. Wife. Mother. I have taught children Spanish and math and science in a school setting. I have sold real estate. I have learned, practiced and taught Pilates. I have been a holistic health coach. I have birthed two beautiful baby boys. I support empowered birth and post-natal vibrancy. I have done and do all of these things. But my greatest accomplishment to date is not what I have done. It is who I am becoming. I am birthing myself, my fire within.

I felt a huge resistance and fear surrounding the writing of this bio and my introduction to the Fire Tree Studios community. It feels like shedding another layer of the person who I have been pretending to be in order to reveal, expose my authentic self. There’s a deep vulnerability in stepping out of my comfort zone. Not that I’m uncomfortable in this work. The truth is that I feel at one with the work. Even when I feel like I’m doing it “badly”, it calls to me and reveals deeper connections to myself and my Source.

And so, I listened to the voices, heard the fear and the doubt and the sadness and I painted. Painted the deep well of sadness that is my own and my ancestors’ and my Sisters. The profound sadness that comes from being separated from our power, our light, our gifts that have been stifled instead of shared. I painted the green flutterings of doubt and stirrings of anger and the little black shaking voice of fear. Then I felt the PUSH and painted big, bold, orange letters— push, we have to push, I have to push. Then a hush came upon me and all of a sudden there were legs beneath the pool of sadness and a circular power of the 2nd chakra, and drips of water between the legs. Then it became clear. The word wasn’t push. Push isn’t what’s needed. What we need, what I needed to do was and is to OPEN. To open and allow. And the well of sadness broke. My water broke and I gave birth to the fire within myself. ​​​​​​​
