I am sitting here with my 7 month old daughter at my feet. She is grunting and fussing around on the floor...and for good reason. She is cutting her second tooth and learning to crawl about, take up space and explore her environment.
And even though she is very engaged and excited, its clearly uncomfortable
for her. Do I pacify her as she stretches for that new toy? NO! I let her squeal and squirm until she falls into delight at having met her goal.
Its the perfect reminder that growth is natural part of the creative life cycle. As we evolve beyond our comfort zones, we are pulled and stretched and we may fuss a bit because it is uncomfortable and that is OK.
Its such a wonderful reminder too, to keep going!
Stopping or going backwards, really isn't an option? Right... I mean Sophia's tooth is coming whether she likes it or not! Hahaha there is a bigger creative life force at play.
And then I of course too have to deal with allowing her discomfort. Which is uncomfortable and inspiring my own growth cycle as a new Mom.
Discomfort is something we are taught to avoid. You know, its so cultural. Especially in our modern day society, get a quick fix! Numb
out! Deny! Repress! Self-medicate!
Discomfort is a big player in the
collective Shadow and it keeps loads of people stuck! When in reality. Discomfort is inevitable if you are alive, evolving and thriving!
Join me today, at 5pm CST
In the Empowered Creative MasterClass we will be talking about the importance of knowing your
shadow, how to celebrate it rather than avoid it on the way to full-self-expression.
Go ahead. Get uncomfortable...you will be glad you did!
