My Best Creation Yet...

Published: Thu, 04/14/16

Greetings

It is with great pleasure and love that I announce the birth of Sophia Flora D'Antoni! Sophia was born on March 23rd at 8:43pm in the evening at Martha's Vineyard Hospital, a super healthy 8.4 pounds and 21 inches long!

Mama and baby are wondrously well and getting into the flow of things in this new life for both of us.  Motherhood has changed me in ways I never knew possible and I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to birth this beautiful child and also to have passionate work in the world that fills my soul.   My heart is full and expanding in so many incredible ways.  More on this later...but for now, let's talk about...

Pleasure.

What is your Pleasure?

Pleasure. It seems as if it is almost a taboo word in our modern day society. Too much pleasure and your ego centric and glutinous, perhaps out of balance.  Too little pleasure and your in self-denial, unconsciously robbing yourself of your own joy through a subtle form of self-hatred.  So what is  a healthy expression of pleasure?

So much of our conditioning is around denying ourselves pleasure and the right to give space to joy.   In order to celebrate life and have a healthy sense of pleasure that honors our wholeness, we need to have a relationship to Self, feel that we are worthy of love, joy and taking up space to follow our passion, our desires and the things, relationships, foods, and the specific activities we love to do.

There is almost too, an unspoken judgement around having too much joy or too much pleasure that ignites a desire, a fire within us.  Like an unconscious fear that if we are just too lit up, too happy, we will some how become out of control, a target for others less jovial or it fights with our worthiness and beliefs about ourselves.  Are we good enough to feel good?

It is a dance for sure and one that we will be exploring more deeply during my next LIVE retreat, with Jan Buhrman -  Eat, Paint Love your Body:  Art and Food as Nourishment. we will look at how pleasure can be nourishing to our wellbeing and how eating based on pleasure and enjoyment is the BEST thing for your metabolism.  The latest health coaches are claiming this to be true and I can say by personal experience and after a healthy pregnancy that allowing myself to eat what I pleasure (what feels good) has definitely had an affect on my relationship to food, my baby and my body.

Join us as we explore these questions and more at ‘Eat Paint Love Your Body’ and of course we will be painting, eating, cooking and creating with pleasure...

Praise for Eat Paint Love your Body

“Exploring my creative side beyond my own imposed boundaries was scary but I embraced the challenge. It was a challenge for me to allow myself the opportunity for this type of self exploration.   Attending Eat, Paint, Love Your Body was an incredible, fulfilling experience.  I am so glad I did it and look forward to attending this next event that explores Food & Art as Nourishment!  Jan and Melissa have created a safe, fun, welcoming approach to exploring your creative side through food and art.  It was fantastic!”
